Tashin emerges unbeaten champion in Sheikh Kamal FIDE Rapid Chess


CM Tahsin Tajwar Zia emerged unbeaten champion Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal Invitational FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament held yesterday at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room.

Tahsin bagged six points out of seven matches to clinch the title.

GM Ziaur Rahman finished urnner-up with six points while IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman became 3rd with 5.5 points.

Three players earned five points each. Their positions are 4th-Feroz
Ahmed, 5th-Md SAriatullah and 6th-CM Manon Reja Neer.

Three players bagged 4.5 points each. Their positions are 7th-IM Abu Sufian Shakil, 8th-FM Mehdi Hasan Parag and 9th- CM Sadnan Hasan Dihan.

FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman became 10th and Abu Hanif became 11th with four points each.

WFM Noshin Anjum became first among female players with four points and WIM Sharmin Sultana Shirin finished second with 3.5 points in among female players.

Champion CM Tahsin received cash prize of twenty five thousand
runner-up GM Zia got Taka fifteen thousand and third place finisher IM Fahad got Taka ten thousand.

The event was held in a seven round Swiss-League system.

Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) vice president KM Shahidullah, BCF general secretary Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim and BCF executive member Sajol Mahmud distributed the prizes, among winners.

The BCF organized the day-long tournament marking the 72nd birth
anniversary of valiant freedom fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
